LEBRON JAMES: 'I'm Told The Humidity Makes It Feel Hotter, Why Is This?'

"Summers in Miami can be hot. I'm told the humidity makes it feel hotter, why is this?" asks LeBron James in this educational video for Khan Academy.

Despite the awkward intro, the video is actually pretty great. Khan Academy is a non-profit that posts a bunch of these quick little lectures on their site. It looks like LeBron did a few videos in association with the LeBron James Family Foundation.

You can also see him ask about Newton's 3rd Law, sweating, and what muscles we use to shoot a basketball.

But the humidity video is our favorite, partly because of LeBron's odd intro, but mostly because we really have no idea why humidity makes it feel hot.

The answer: It's all about evaporation. When the air is heavy with humidity, your body can't cool itself down because the process of evaporative cooling (sweating) is stopped by the water vapor in the air.
